US Guernsey Goat ConservancyAs true Guernsey goats are disappearing in the US because their genealogy and history is being erased and their qualities compromised, the mission of the USGGC is to preserve the original Guernsey genetics according to British standards through education, mentorship, breed promotion, and utilization.
The USGGC is not a registry, however, our official registry of choice for CONSERVATION efforts is the British Goat Society (BGS). Members of the USGGC may register their goats with both BGS and ADGA, if they prefer, but since our focus is on breed conservation and NOT on Americanization of the breed, we do ask that participating members commit to breeding BGS registered animals. USGGC Core Values & PrioritiesThe US Guernsey Goat Conservancy (USGGC) is committed to conservation and education about the Guernsey breed. We celebrate the Guernsey as a rare, heritage breed of dairy goat who produces extraordinary milk while being feed efficient on forage-based systems, is docile, possesses commendable mothering abilities, is generally hardy and parasite/disease resilient, and also offers up bonus qualities such as meat and even fiber for those interested in fiber arts and other sustainable uses.
